Quick, Easy, Health and oh so YUMMY Breakfast! A busy Mama's Dream!........

Quick, easy, healthy and OH SO YUMMY breakfast!  Not to mention it's also one of the easiest recipes to remember. Whole wheat German pancakes! YUM! We make this in out blender, it mixes it up nicely. We have a vita-mix and I can put a double recipe in it. The following recipe is for 1 batch, and will fit in 1 glass 9x11 casserole dish. (Though we have a variety of sizes we use) Preheat oven to 400 Put about 2-3 tablespoons of butter in each pan, place in oven to melt. This not only helps the pancakes from sticking, but also gives it flavor. While it melts, blend the pancake mix. *6 eggs *1 cup flour *1 cup milk Sometimes we add some cinnamon or vanilla extract. That's it! Layer it in the blender, blend it, scrape the sides blend some more! Watch your butter, you don't want it to burn. Then pour the mix into the pans and place it in the oven. It takes roughly 20 mins. It will bubble up, and get browned on the edges. That's when it...

Yes, I can read.......

I am not a huge fan of reading! (I know shutter with fright! Dismay! Disbelief!) I love the idea of reading, I love watching my children read, and read. However when I typically grab a book, I have a hard time finishing it. I have a hard time concentrating on it. My mind is active and thinking of all the other things I should/could be doing. (Funny thing is, just the other day I was speaking with Papa Bear, about this very subject. He asked if I'd read a specific book recently.  I said no, I don't really have time to read. He laughed and said, every time I see you, your reading a book, and usually a different one. Well that might be true, but the other side he doesn't know is that I rarely finish a book!)   This is something I am working on. I am trying to set up a specific part of my day to read, free read. We do have a 30 min block that we call religious reading right after lunch. However I typically read aloud to my 3, 4 and 6 year old boys. Then ...

More and MORE....

Today at the park, I started talking with a young mother. OK, so honestly she struck up the conversation and then I engaged! Those who KNOW me, know I am not the type to strike up a conversation :) So this young mother, asked how many children I had..... My thought, HERE WE GO!!!!! This was a young mother with a 4, 2.5ish and new baby.... that's a hard time for most mom's. I've heard from a lot of mothers that #3 was the HARDEST!!!! Not necessarily because of the baby, but because most of the time you have 3 toddlers, and ONLY 2 HANDS! When I told her I have 10, she didn't even flinch! Her response was I want 12! I looked at her in shock! (I know that's horrible!!!) I just don't think I've heard that from anyone else! Let alone a young Mother! I congratulated her, and we started talking. Somehow I told her I homeschool, and she said, I want to homeschool, too! AMAZING!!! (I just love Precious Moments!) I also just met, through email, another y...

NO Luck for the Irish- Here......

The common saying, the Luck of the Irish, isn't something I want to teach my children. SO instead we made 3 leaf clovers with the saying, I am Grateful for..... in the middle. Instead of it being luck, we are greatful for things in our lives!   We cut out our own clovers, making heart shapes for the leaves and connecting to a stem. Very simple. Then we wrote different things we were thankful/grateful for. I got the idea off pintrest, it's on my  holidays-St. Patricks's Day, board. The one on there says LUCKY ME in the middle, so I changed it to thankful.   Here's some more ideas, I love this GODHEAD idea, maybe next year. from Pegs Academy.   We read the story of St. Patrick, and we discussed the differences of the Trinity and the Godhead. However this is a wonderful idea to show it. ENJOY!

Reading Time, Reading Time, and MORE Reading Time!.....

I've been asked a few times, "How do you have a houseful of readers?"   Honestly, it hasn't always been that way. Nor has it always been easy!   I guess to me it seems quite simple,   IF YOU WANT A KID TO READ, THEN THEY NEED PLENTY OF PRACTICE, AND PLENTY OF PATIENCE! We read and read and read in our house! We read as part of our independent studies for school. We read aloud during lunch. We read aloud during Family Studies. We Read every afternoon, during our religious reading time. We are starting a new, quiet reading time just before bed time. We also read our scriptures Morning and Night as a family, along with our personal scripture readings daily.   Plenty of times during the day to read. And those are just the "scheduled" reading times.   The second reason, and I feel is the most important reason, is that we have very few electronics' in our house. We also do not watch TV (internet or cable) and few movies. Al...
