Healthier Goodies for the Holidays.......

You know it seems every year as holidays come around I get all excited to make cookies, and goodies, with lots and lots of sugar, and white flour, and chocolate. Then of course we eat them, and eat them, and well eat some more. The next step in the process is a stomach ache and a headache and most likely we get SICK!!!! So if you are like me you are on the hunt for a few good healthier alternatives to the Holiday Junk Food! Here's a few ideas for a healthier alternative to the holidays that our family enjoys. Healthier Peanut Butter Cookies . A Holiday tip to make these special is to make them smaller and after they bake take them out and push 1 Hershey's kiss into the middle. Now I know Hershey's kisses are not on the healthier list. We can not afford to use the healthier chocolate chips so I just use the healthiest ones I can find and afford. I am sure there are healthier options for Hershey's kisses too. I guess we allow alittle cheating! I also make this supe...

Christmas organized.... my way!

Purchasing, well anything, for a houseful (currently of 2 adults and 9 kids) can get rather unorganized rather quickly. So I've come up with a plan! And you'll never believe it but the only necessary tools are a notebook and a pen! Simple, yet effective that's what's what I like! So, first I must give credit where credit is due. My "idea" for presents is a take from an old friend, Christie. She mentioned the idea, and I made it my own. I've been using this theory for well over 10 years and still love it! I purchase each member of my family 3 Christmas Gifts, a Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. Each with a meaning. Gold is their big, fun gift. Frankincense is a religious gift. Myrrh is something that is needed. Trying to bring in the 3 gifts the wise men brought for the baby Jesus. I also try to wrap them accordingly, with a solid colored wrapping of Gold, white for Frankincense and Red for Myrrh. Which makes it a lot easier to open accordingly!  Now...

So.... what curriculum do you use???

Isn't that the question?? It seems that everyone out there wants to know the best curriculum, the best choice in educating their children. That is one blessing, and possibly one curse to the popularity of homeschooling.... Oh the choices! There are so many, so many different methods, so many different ideas, so many different programs, and ways to school.... honestly it's overwhelming. It gives me a headache just pondering them all. I seem to get asked about curriculum, a lot. I guess part of it is that I have been homeschooling all my A's from the start? I guess it's that we all seem "together". I guess it's.... well it's just "the" question when it comes to homeschool mom's getting together. So what do I use.... it doesn't matter!!! What?? What??? are you going to just leave me hanging like that?? Yes I am! {once in a while I mention things we do and use, but honestly I try not to} I believe what works for me,...

A Motherly Cloak

“Come home, wives, to your children, born and unborn. Wrap the motherly cloak about you and, unembarrassed, help in a major role to create bodies for the immortal souls who anxiously wait.” from “The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson”  I read this quote on a link from my friends blog..... and I LOVED IT! Come home..... wrap your motherly cloak about you..... Mother and Child by William Adolphe Bouguereau A Motherly Cloak.... Patience, Kindness, Strong yet Meek, Humble, Selfless, Peaceful, A Teacher in everything To be unembarrassed, why would we be embarrassed? Children are a gift from God, not a cursing....a blessing...a gift.   “In the eternal perspective, children-not possessions, not position, not prestige-are our greatest jewels.” --Ezra Taft Benson
