Christmas Nativities and Traditions.

Go on over to Spell Out Loud, and see her Christmas Nativity Sets Post. I love little people, and this is too cute! She also listed tons of links of cute Nativities online.

I also wanted to add a few fun things we have and do with nativities. I wrote another post with ideas, earlier. I wanted to add a few other things.

We have two kid okay nativities, one is not available from the site I purchased it from, I bought it around 9 years ago! It was only $3-$5 and it's very small, and porcelain. I like it because they do have to handle it carefully! I also just purchased this one from oriental trading company.

My good friend Andrea, at Dean's Academy does something I love. She has purchased each of her children their own nativity, she looks for cheap ones or nativities at thrift stores. Her children, pick the perfect place for their nativity, and can set it up as they choose, they can change the positions as they want! Last year, one of her children was sure someone was messing around with his nativity, and moving the pieces, it was hilarious! She also has some cute edible nativities, they made last year.

Last year I so wanted to do this, but never got around to it. It's awesome, in my thoughts!! A bread dough nativity, that looks porcelain!

I love the idea of letting the kids feel and touch and play with the nativity. I am going to find a nativity kit we can paint this year. I have also seen some cute finger puppet nativities, such as these.

Every year we also make gingerbread houses. I usually just buy 2 kits from the store, and the girls design one and the boys design one. We also have a tradition of making ornaments for our Christmas tree each year. Last year, we only used our homemade ornaments, and a few of our purchased nativity ornaments.

Simple Morning Time Geography, for the whole family.....

In our Morning Time we will be reading some fun and educational picture books to begin our family geography lessons. Yes I'm just starting this now, in March.... sometimes that happens. We've been studying geography in both our Good and the Beautiful Language Arts, and also our Mystery of History Lessons, so I don't actually feel bad about this! First up, for our World Geography.  I decided to start with a general world geography book. I chose  Somewhere in the World Right Now by Stacey Schuett.  This book is alot of fun. It discusses different geographical areas, showing some amazing pictures. It mostly talks about the time zones and international date line. I thought that would be a nice introduction, and something we haven't really discussed a lot. We started our week off with this beauty, on Monday. After we finished our morning time, and headed to our school room. You see, we meet on our couches, in our family room for a lot ...

Our Morning Devotional..hopefully with more clarity!

I received a comment/question about our devotional time, Tracy would like me to give more details about our devotional time. {WARNING~ this post has become extremely LONG!!!} First off before I start into all that I'd just like to say I am so glad Tracy decided to comment, and especially with a question!! The main and only reason I blog is to inspire others, help others, and well sometimes it's as close as I get to adult conversation! I noticed that as of right now {as I right this} I have had 787 visitors to my blog... and only 2 people who have commented! The other one is my O' So kind SIL!! Please feel free to comment...because as it says on the Right Sidebar...I LOVE Comments!!! I also want to clarify and answer any questions that I might have stirred in your heads with my thoughts!!! So on with the Question.... We have ALWAYS had devotional time... it's changed and grown with our family. It's what we, Papa Bear and I see as the things our children need. Just be...

Homemade bread for our large family

making bread has been a huge part of my life as a mother... here’s the problem, don’t start making homemade bread, unless you plan on doing it forever!!! Once you eat homemade bread, it’s didficult to eat store brought breads!!! Even some of the nicest, most expensive, they just seem so dry and bland.  That being said, I can make all our bread for our family of 11 (currently in the house) in about 15 minutes! (Not including the rise and bake time) I usually make it on the weekend, and then again around Wednesday or Thursday each week. Whenever I make it, I incorporate it into our dinner that night. Usually making 3 or 4  loaves of bread and 1 pan of rolls- for dinner. You see if you don’t do that, you’ll end up eating all of it the first night, right!!! No one can resist hot, fresh, homemade bread- especially with melted butter!!! 💖 So here’s the recipe, I know you’re all dying to have!  This should make about 5 loaves of bread, or a mix of bread and r...
