Why most Families have 2 children.....

Here's a link to another blog,   why most families have 2 children . I love her perspective on it. The fact that she takes her story and makes it real. I personally felt that feeling of overwhelmed at three. I wasn't one of those mom's who felt I had to do everything for my children as she said. I enjoyed my children, but really didn't believe in that thought of spoiling a child, to the extreme that the world tends to do. I always thought it as...well... spoiling!  I wasn't raised in a large family, however my mom did babysit in our home when I was younger. There were times when we were, a FULL HOUSE! My mom taught me through her example of training and running such a large amount of children. I did help with some of them, especially when she had a lot of babies and toddlers at one time. This was before all the daycare laws they have in place now. It's unbelievable how the laws lead to this spoiling! We never had a problem, and I believe ...

Free Download: Thoughts for young men. Raising Godly Men.

I just saw this post about raising godly men.   This is something our world is lacking boys being raised to be righteous men. It is difficult to find encouraging books on this very subject. Here's a link for a  free download of this book I haven't actually read this, yet. However it looks amazing! I've read a few others from the same author.  Enjoy, and remember to train your boys to be real men!

It just comes natural.........

given that it can be natural. It's all in the environment. Do you give your children the ability to do what is natural to them? To be what they need to be? For boys to become men, and girls to become women. For boys to become Dad's and girls to become Mother's? These are natural roles, and if they are given time, and instincts to use those natural talents..... then they will grow, they will flourish, they will become all they were meant to be.  I am talking about the fact that  little boys naturally want to become men. From the youngest age, if you are raising boys to become real men, then that's what they want. I have watched all my boys start to get older and then want to be mommies little man! I love seeing that, that look of amazement, and accomplishment in their eyes. You see recently Papa Bear and Noble have been gone alot, did I say a lot, I meant ALOT! When Papa Bear left the first time, he turned to Valiant and said, can you be the man of the house? The ...

Not a Slave to what's in fashion.....

“A true Christian must not be a slave to what’s currently ‘in-fashion,’ if he wants to train his child for heaven. He must not be content to teach them and instruct them in certain ways, merely because it is customary, or to allow them to read books of a questionable sort, merely because everybody else reads them, or to let them form bad habits, merely because they are the habits of the day.   He must train with an eye to his children’s souls.  He must not be ashamed to hear his training called odd and strange. What if it is? The time is short—the customs of this world are passing away. He that has trained his children for heaven, rather than for the earth—for God, rather than for man—he is the parent that will be called wise in the end.” - J.C. Ryle,  The Duties of Parents (19th century preacher) Oh so true. A Wise Woman Builds Her Home,  is by far one of my favorite new found blogs. It's inspiring, and educational all in one! This quote ...

Coming to a vending machine near you.....

THE DAY AFTER PILL!!   Yes that's right.  THE DAY AFTER PILL!! "Now, if you’re like me, you were somewhere between depressed and outraged in hearing this. My 14-year-old daughter can’t go on a field trip without my permission, but soon she'll be able to legally buy the morning-after pill without my knowing anything about it. Even 11- and 12-year-old girls will be able to pick up Plan B along with their candy bars and lip gloss at the neighborhood drug store. What's next? Selling abortion drugs in junior high vending machines? (“No way!” you say? Well, they’re already in college vending machines. But maybe I'd better not give them any ideas.)" Read more  HERE. You and I live in a time when government is actively undermining the family.  We need to fight back. Oh the cunning plans of the evil one.  We must protect the innocence of our young ladies. The devil is starting younger and younger. How can these precious jewels ever survive in such a god...

Susanna Wesley, what a homeschool mom of many....

I just read  this article  what an inspirational story. I am going to look for more books and online articles to read more of this mom of many. She sounds like someone I would have enjoyed spending some time talking with.

a Meek and Quiet Spirit....

Do you struggle with a meek and quiet spirit? I just read this post on A wise woman builds her home, and it's all so true. She is a wise woman! Her post deals more with modesty, vanity, and the lusts of the world. Which I agree with in so many points she made I can not even try to expound on her wonderful post. Instead I want to deal more with the idea of a meek and quiet spirit.  ...let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.  1 Peter 2:4 And honestly who doesn't struggle with a meek and quiet spirit? We must admit we all have our days, our moments, or things we would like to push the rewind button and fix.  The 1828 Noah Websters Dictionary defines gentle and quiet as..... gentle-Mild; meek; soft; bland; not rough, harsh or severe; as a gentle nature, temper or disposition; a gentle manner; a gentle address; a gentle voice.  m...

Beauty or Duty, you decide.......

I slept and dreamed that life was Beauty; I woke and found that life was Duty! Author unknown~ DUTY! At times I wonder about  the duties of being a mother of many. It seems if Mom's not here to keep things running smoothly, then it's not running correctly! You know that nagging feeling of being a mom of many... did you brush your teeth, did you make your bed, take the trash out, clean your room, finish your schoolwork?? and on and on and on it goes! Beautiful would be children who just did it, life is children who need assistance. Duty is working together to accomplish the tasks. Reality is life and dreaming is nice, but it's not life!  In our home we work hard at having our children work hard, to learn the duty of hard work. We do not believe in rewarding our children for their chores. We want them to learn that hard work is duty, and life. It is part of being in a large family, and if they get rewarded it is a reward for our family. We can have ...

It seems everywhere I go, I hear.....

You have such good kids! Your children are so well behaved! I might be at a family gathering, the grocery store, a home school activity, a field trip..... anywhere really. I hear this often, and it got me pondering about it. I thought I'd throw out my two cents on parenting. First off I MUST say that I do not live in a wonderful, blissful, always happy home. We have our trials, our bad days, and well those days when Mama Bear wants to just slip off to bed, and forget the day ever started. The problem with slipping away, is that you are just running from the problem. It will never get better, if it's never fixed. I can solve all your {and my own} problems in one simple word, CONSISTANCY. I don't care if you are a spanker, a time-out parent, a job or chore for discipline you name it and there's probably a discipline book written all about how to do it! I don't honestly feel it matters how you discipline, just that you do, and that you are consistant. I've read a f...
